Cross Country Gears Up For Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational Saturday
Sept. 29, 2005 EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern's cross country team will compete at the Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational Saturday, hosted by Loyola University in Chicago. Over 75 teams, ranging from elementary teams to Division I, are scheduled to compete at the event being held at Montrose Beach. The Wildcats are scheduled to run at 12:15 p.m. Unlike previous weeks, head coach Amy Tush will send her entire team, both purple and white sqauds, to compete at the event. "This meet will be a good race for us to group together as a team, run upfront and build our confidence back up," Tush said. Northwestern is looking to bounce back from a 27th place finish at the Griak Invitational Sept. 24 in Minneapolis, Minn. Freshman Carly Brown (Kalispell, Mont./Flathead) was the top finisher for NU at the event, crossing the line with a time of 23:22. She was followed by classmate Allison King (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) who came in just behind at 23:43. Sophomore Marie Grabinski (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) placed third (23:46) while another freshman, Hilary Forman (Prairie Village, Kan./Pembroke) came in fourth with a time of 23:51.
Next Up: The Wildcats will be back in action Saturday, Oct. 15 at the Pre-National Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind., the site of the 2005 NCAA Championships in November.
