Cross Country Splits Up and Heads to Wisconsin and Ohio Saturday
Sept. 15, 2006 EVANSTON, ILL. -- In their second weekend of competition, the Northwestern Wildcats head to the Midwest Collegiate Open hosted by UW-Parkside and the Toledo Invitational hosted by the University of Toledo. Northwestern swept the Chuck Carroll Invitational hosted by North Central College in Naperville last weekend. Junior Celia Franklin (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) won the race and the Wildcats took the team title. Seven 'Cats finished in the top-10 and sophomores Allison King (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) and Carly Brown (Kalispell, Mont./Flathead) took third and fifth, respectively. The Fourth annual Toledo Invitational, held at the Ottawa Park Golf course in Toledo, gets underway at 8:45 a.m. Saturday morning and schools running include: Toledo, Eastern Michigan and the University of Buffalo from the MAC.
The rest of the squad will head up to Kenosha, Wis. for the Midwest Collegiate Open hosted by UW-Parkside. Northwestern won the 5K meet last year with junior Marie Grabinski (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) as the top finisher, taking third. Brown finished ninth. The race begins at noon.
