Women's Cross Country Finishes First at Forester

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Northwestern women's cross country team finished first out of 22 schools at the 5-kilometer Forester Invitational Saturday morning. The race took place at the Half Day Forest Preserve in Lake Forest.
The Wildcats scored 60 points to defeat second-place Carroll College by nine points. Third-place Wisconsin-Parkside was the only other school to break 100 points, with 97.
Nicole Kalogeropoulos (Hoffman Estates, Ill./Fremd) was NU's top finisher on the day, placing third individually with a time of 19:24. She was eight seconds off the pace set by individual champion Christian Bock of Bethel. Jennifer Anderson (Rockford, Ill./Auburn Academy) was also in the Top 10, clocked 20:01.
Holly Levine (Hannibal, Mo./Hannibal) was 11th in 20:06, Elizabeth Gibbons (Park Ridge, Ill./Maine South) was 16th in 20:28, and Kathy Travnicek (Long Beach, Miss./Long Beach) was 20th in 20:35 to round out NU's scorers. Catie LaBracke (Spring Grove, Ill./Marian Central Catholic) and Justine Pierce (Eugene, Ore./Winston Churchill) rounded out the Northwestern contingent at Saturday's race.
The Wildcats will run again next Sunday, at the Big Ten Championships in Champaign, Ill.
