Wildcats Are Fourth at Sean Earl Lakefront Invite

CHICAGO, Ill. - The Northwestern women's cross country team finished fourth out of 17 Division I teams Saturday at the Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational. The meet was held on the Montrose Beach course in Chicago and was hosted by Loyola University. The Wildcats finished with 134 points, nipping Illinois State (137) for fourth. Wisconsin won the meet with 31 points to edge Nebraska (32). Purdue, another Big Ten rival, was third with 103 points. Junior Diana Hossfeld led the Wildcat charge, as she was first among NU's 22 runners to cross the finish line. Her time of 18:06 was good for 14 points. Seniors Emily Blakeslee, Nora Colligan and Nicole Kalogeropoulos were next to finish -- Blakeslee scored 21 points in 18:30, Colligan scored 27 points in 18:38, and Kalogeropoulos scored 35 points in 18:46. Freshman Casey Shea was right on Kalogeropoulos' heels, scoring 37 points in 18:47. Hilary Edmondson of Wisconsin was the individual champion, as she clocked 17:18 for a seven-second victory.
