adidas Invitational Complete Result

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Fresh off its overall team victory at the Sean Earl Invitational last Saturday, Northwestern posted another impressive result Friday, placing third out of 23 teams in the Gold Division race at the adidas Invitational hosted by Notre Dame. Senior Carly Brown (Kalispell, Mont./Flathead) posted a season-best time of 18:02 to place 12th overall while freshman Sophie Ewald finished just behind her in 14th place (18:04).

Northwestern, ranked No. 10 in the Midwest region, also received a boost from senior Marcellee Fullwood (Houston, Texas/Cypress Falls), who placed 23rd in a time of 18:23. Fullwood showed remarkable improvement over her 2007 performance at the 5K adidas Invitational when she recorded a time of 19:44.

Freshman Rachel Kaminski (Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port) finished 39th overall (18:32) while fellow classmate Hallie Busta (Jackson, Ohio/Massillon Jackson) was among the race’s top 50 finishers (49th), posting a time of 18:42.

Michigan State claimed the top team spot in the Gold Division race while Grand Valley State checked in at second. Northwestern placed ahead of Calvin College, Illinois State—ranked 10th in the Midwest—as well as Ohio, Central Michigan and Xavier.

Northwestern is off next weekend before head coach April Likhite brings her squad to the Pre Nationals Meet hosted by Indiana State on Oct. 18.
