EVANSTON, Ill. -- Junior middle blocker Chelsy Hyser (Belvidere, Ill./Belvidere) has been named an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Mideast Region honorable mention selection, the organization announced today.

Hyser is Northwestern's first All-Region honoree since Erika Lange in 2002. Hyser recorded the third-best single-season hitting percentage in school history in 2007 with a .316 mark, averaging 2.84 kills per game and 1.21 blocks per game for the 'Cats. Her hitting percentage ranked ninth in the Big Ten.

Hyser finished second on the team with 3.77 points per game, and also finished third on the squad with 25 aces.
