EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern's fifth-ranked women's tennis team has earned a program-best No. 5 seed in the upcoming NCAA Women's Tennis Championships and will begin the tournament by hosting No. 63 Western Michigan, No. 43 Boise State and No. 24 Indiana in the Regional Championship. This marks the seventh-straight season the 'Cats will host the regional tournament, which is slated for Friday, May 11 and Saturday, May 12 at the Vandy Christie Tennis Center.

NU will start its run in the tournament by facing 63rd-ranked Western Michigan at 2 p.m. Friday, May 11. The Broncos received an automatic bid to this year's championships by winning the MAC. The Broncos topped second-seeded Buffalo, 4-1, in the championship match. WMU is 22-6 on the year and are making their second-straight appearance in the NCAA Championships and their fourth in program history.

The Wildcats did not face Boise State this year, but took a 5-2 win over Indiana when the teams faced off on April 8 in Bloomington.

The Wildcats are one of three Big Ten teams -- Michigan, Northwestern and Indiana -- to make the field of 64. With its No. 5 seed, NU enters the tournament as the only seeded Big Ten team.
