EVANSTON, Ill. -- Head coach Claire Pollard is being featured this week by the Big Ten in celebration of the 25th Anniversary of Women's Championships. Pollard, in her ninth season at NU, is looking for a record ninth-straight Big Ten title.

With her team on the brink of history, searching for a record ninth-straight Big Ten crown, Northwestern women's tennis coach Claire Pollard says it takes some luck to win championships. But the Wildcat mentor knows it takes a whole lot more than luck to build a dynasty.

Well-regarded as an exceptional motivator, Pollard has crafted an empire in Evanston, Ill., with a balanced blend of talent, discipline, fun and opportunity. Since her arrival in 1999, Pollard's recipe has taken a program that routinely finished among the top three teams in the conference to unparalleled heights.
