No. 2 Northwestern Dominates Princeton, 6-1
Feb. 23, 2008 DURHAM, N.C. -- In a neutral site contest, No. 2 Northwestern topped Princeton Saturday at Duke's Sheffield Tennis Center, 6-1. Samantha Murray, Lauren Lui and Nazlie Ghazal all posted at least one shutout set in their straight-set victories. The Wildcats face No. 8 Duke at 11 a.m. CT Sunday. With the win, Northwestern improves to 10-1 while Princeton falls to 5-3. With a new look in doubles, the Wildcats dominated the doubles portion to take a 1-0 lead. At No. 1, Georgia Rose and Lui defeated Ivana King and Rebecca Parks, 8-3. The No. 2 team of Murray and Maria Mosolova topped Taylor Marable and Melissa Saiontz, 8-3. At No. 3 doubles, Suzie Matzenauer and Ghazal handled Sarah Hoffman and Sarah Huah, 8-1. Northwestern won five singles matches to win the dual, 6-1. Spots 3-6 in the lineup did not surrender more than two games in any set. Murray defeated Parks at No. 3, 6-0, 6-1, while Lui put up double bagels in a 6-0, 6-0 win over Marable. At No. 5, Ghazal downed Huah, 6-1, 6-0, and Matzenauer topped Hoffman at No. 6, 6-2, 6-1. Mosolova won her match at No. 2, 6-3, 6-3 over King, and Rose fell in a match tiebreaker at No. 1 to Saiontz, 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (4). The Wildcats face No. 8 Duke at 11 a.m. Sunday to close their three-game road trip to North Carolina. The 'Cats are then off until March 7 when they host Wisconsin. Northwestern 6, Princeton 1
