No. 12 Wildcats Fall to No. 21 Washington, 4-3

SEATTLE - Cristelle Grier, Northwestern's top singles player, recorded her third dual match win today to remain undefeated, but the Wildcats could not pull out the victory against the 21st-ranked Washington Huskies (2-0). The teams split the singles matches, and Washington's doubles point gave them the 4-3 advantage. The deciding doubles point eluded the Wildcats today as NU's only win came at No. 3. Andrea Yung and Ruth Barnes defeated Erin Boisclair and Erin Hoe 8-4. In singles, Northwestern won three of the six matches. Grier defeated Claire Carter at No. 1 6-4, 7-6(3). Also claiming her third straight dual victory, Yung was the 6-2, 6-2 winner over Washington's Colleen Gray. Stacy Kokx claimed the third point for the 'Cats with a 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 6. Northwestern falls to 1-2 on the season. The Wildcats will spend another day in the state of Washington, taking on Seattle Sunday, Jan. 26 at 1 p.m. Central at the Lloyd Nordstrom Tennis Center.
