EVANSTON, Ill. - The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced their Academic All-District Soccer Teams Thursday, and a pair of Wildcat players made the cut in District V for their performance in the classroom as well as on the field (District V is made up of all colleges and universities in Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Ontario and Manitoba).

Molly Greene (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest), a senior defender on the NU women's soccer team, was a second-team Academic All-District selection. This is her first CoSIDA All-District honor; she is the first NU women's soccer player to be recognized by CoSIDA since Susie McCreery was named in 2001.

Greene, a history major, started at sweeper for all 71 matches that NU played during her four-year tenure, and is a three-time All-Big Ten selection (first team in 2001 and 2003, second team in 2002).

This season, the Wildcats finished with a 7-10-1 record (3-6-1 Big Ten), and allowed 1.68 goals per game. In addition to her defensive duties, Greene managed to score the match-winning goal in a 1-0 win over Michigan on September 21. She finished her career with three goals and two assists for seven points.

On the men's side, Jeremy Cook (Hudson, Wis./Hudson) was honored for the second year in a row on the All-District first team. Cook now moves on to the national ballot; the national Academic All-America teams will be announced Nov. 25. Cook was a second-team Academic All-America honoree last year.

Cook, a chemistry major who plans to go to medical school, has started 55 straight matches for the Wildcats in the midfield and in the back. Originally a member of Northwestern's club soccer team, he eventually walked on to the varsity as a freshman, and during his time at Northwestern the 'Cats have improved from 0-17-1 (his freshman season) to 6-6-6 this year (0-3-3 Big Ten) heading into next weekend's Big Ten Tournament. NU's .500 mark this season is its best since 1988.

Both Cook and Greene are three-time Academic All-Big Ten honorees.
