Women's Soccer To Host Locks of Love Day This Sunday
Oct. 22, 2007
EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern women's soccer will hold Locks of Love Day during its home game against Iowa at noon Sunday, October 28 at Lakeside Field. For months, head coach Stephanie Erickson and several Wildcats have been growing out their hair and they will be getting their hair cut after the game in support of Locks of Love. Locks of Love is a nonprofit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children suffering from long term medical hair loss. Fans will have an opportunity to donate their hair, as well as receive Northwestern merchandise while supporting a worthy cause. Fans can join the Wildcats in their support for Locks of Love by donating hair or making a monetary donation. During the game, KidSnips in Wilmette will provide free haircuts to fans who want to donate, though there is a 10-inch minimum hair length requirement for donation. All fans who donate will receive coupons from KidSnips and the fan who donates the longest hair will receive an autographed Northwestern jersey. Admission is free for all home games and the first 150 fans who arrive at the game will receive a Wildcat soccer scarf. Kids in the 8th grade and under can be part of the team tunnel for starting lineups. All fans can win prizes at halftime and meet the team after the game. It's also a T-shirt swap day so NU students can bring an opposing school t-shirt to receive a new, purple Northwestern shirt compliments of U.S. Cellular.
