EVANSTON, Ill. -- Junior Hannah Nielsen (Adelaide, Australia/Brighton Secondary) was named the American Lacrosse Conference (ALC) Player of the Week by the conference office for the week of March 3.

Nielsen had a pair of impressive performances over the weekend to help lead the top-ranked Wildcats to a pair of home wins. The junior netted a goal and added four assists in a 21-6 victory of Duquesne on March 7, then followed it up with a season-high eight points (four goals, four assists) in helping Northwestern defeat 14th-ranked Boston University 19-10 on March 9.

Through the first five games of the 2008 season, Nielsen leads the 'Cats with 29 points, is first on the team in assists (15) and third in goals (14). She has already garnered first-team preseason All-American honors from Inside Lacrosse magazine and is on the Tewaaraton Trophy watch list.

Nielsen and the rest of the Wildcats travel to Columbus, Ohio, to open ALC play against the Buckeyes at 2 p.m. Friday, March 14, before returning home to face Massachusetts at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 16, at Lakeside Field. NU is currently riding a 26 game winning streak and has won 34 straight at home.
