The United States defeated Australia, 8-7, in the final game of the 2009 Federation of International Lacrosse World Cup. A handful of former Wildcats played key roles in helping Team USA to the gold medal. Season Recap: Nothing Short of Perfection for 2009 Wildcats
The 2009 Wildcats became just the second team in program history to go through an entire season unscathed, capping the year by routing third-ranked North Carolina 21-7 in the NCAA title game to finish a perfect 23-0. It marked the fourth national championship for the class of 2009, and fifth-straight overall for Northwestern, as the seniors end their careers with an overall record of 85-3.
 
CBS 2 Chicago will re-air the Wildcats 21-7 victory over North Carolina in the NCAA title game, marking the first time an NCAA lacrosse game will be televised on broadcast television in the Chicagoland area.

CBS 2 Chicago To Re-Air NU's NCAA Championship Victory Saturday
Responding to the demand to relive the excitement of the Northwestern women's lacrosse team's drive toward an NCAA title, CBS 2 Chicago will re-broadcast the Wildcats' 21-7 championship game victory over North Carolina this Saturday, June 20, at 3 p.m. The game, which was originally broadcast on CBS College Sports Network, represents the fifth-straight national championship for the Northwestern women's lacrosse team.
