LINCOLN, Neb. -- Thursday's opening round of the NCAA Women's Central Regional Golf Championships at Firethorn Golf Club in Lincoln has been postponed because of rain. Heavy rain began falling overnight in the Lincoln area and continued through mid-day.

Northwestern's Elizabeth Burden (Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest) is competing as an individual in the event.

The tournament will resume Friday with a shotgun start beginning at 8 a.m., with plans to play both the first and second rounds. Tournament officials have scheduled 36 holes of continuous play for Friday in order to get the regional back on schedule for Saturday's third and final round.

Hole assignments and pairings for Friday's play will be available later Thursday afternoon. Please check Huskers.com for Friday's pairings.
