EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Due to strong thunderstorms early in the day, Northwestern's women's golf team had to wait a few extra hours before teeing off at the NCAA Division I Central Regional Championships. The Wildcats finally got started around 2:30 p.m. ET and finished their first 18 holes tied for 14th place with Kansas State. Northwestern, which was seeded 13th in the 21-team event, shot a 37-over 325. The Wildcats need to finish among the top eight teams to earn a trip to the NCAA national tourney. Through day one, Northwestern is sitting 11 strokes behind eighth-place TCU. Kent State leads the tourney after shooting a 16-over 304. Individually, NU was paced by sophomore Lauren Grzebien (Saunderstown, R.I./Narragansett), who shot a 6-over-par 78. She is tied for 22nd place overall. Both Kim sisters, Hana Kim (Encino, Calif./Brentwood) and Ina Kim (Encino, Calif./Harvard-Westlake), fired 10-over 82's and sit 57th.
