COLUMBUS, Ohio -- With 18 holes left to play at the 2004 Big Ten Championships, Northwestern is in seventh place with a 70-over 934 (313-305-316). The Wildcats, ranked 37th nationally in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin index, dropped a notch in the team standings, falling behind 18th-ranked Michigan State, which is six strokes in front of Northwestern.

Ohio State, ranked third nationally and the leader after the first two rounds, fell two strokes behind 32nd-ranked Indiana. Purdue, Michigan and Wisconsin round out the third through five slots.

Individually, NU's Mary Ellen Grzebien (Saunderstown, R.I./Narragansett) fired a 4-over 76 and moved up to 11th place overall with a 14-over 230 (76-78-76). Freshman Heather Scholten (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) shot a 6-over 78 on Saturday -- her best round of the tournament. She is now in 38th place at 25-over (83-80-78=241).

Freshman Kelly Robb (Concord, Mass./Middlesex School), who was in fifth place after two rounds, carded an 11-over 83 on Saturday and dropped to 13th place at 15-over (75-73-83=231). Junior Ina Kim (Encino, Calif./Harvard-Westlake) shot a 10-over 82 on Saturday and fell from 16th to 25th with a 20-over 236 (80-74-82).

Indiana's Danah Ford fired a 2-under 70 on Saturday to take a three-stroke lead over Ohio State's Allison Hanna.
