PARRISH, Fla. -- Playing in its first spring tournament Northwestern turned in a ninth-place showing at the Central District Invitational, which was held at the River Wilderness Golf Club (par-72, 6,099 yards). The Wildcats shared the ninth-place spot with Michigan, while Michigan State was two strokes better for eighth place. Baylor won the event, while Ohio State, the other Big Ten participant, was second.

Junior Alice Kim (Los Angeles, Calif./Brentwood) was unable to maintain her first-place standing after the first 36 holes and finished in a three-way tie for fifth place with a 7-over 223 (70-74-79). Still, her first-round 70 was one of the best 18-holes in Northwestern golf history.

Sophomore Brittany Johnston (Akron, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) turned in Northwestern's best Tuesday round with a 3-over 75. She finished 44th (81-79-75=235) after beginning the day in 62nd place.

Freshman Jennifer Hong (Windermere, Fla./The First Academy) placed 28th with a 15-over 231 (74-77-80). Sophomore Katie Trachok (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) and junior Heather Scholten (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) were 59th and 63rd, respectively.

Final results can be found by linking to Central District Classic.

The Wildcats, ranked 39th in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin index, return to action March 2, 3 and 4 at the Rio Verde Collegiate in Rio Verde, Ariz.
