Lederhausen's Hole-in-One Highlights Tuesday's Final Round at Central District Invitational
Feb. 19, 2008
PARRISH, Fla. -- Freshman Rebecca Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) sank the third ace in Northwestern women's golf history on Tuesday, highlighting the Wildcats' final round at the Central District Invitational. Lederhausen, who earned her first career hole-in-one, used a 5-iron on the par-3, 164-yard No. 5 hole. Facing some gusty winds, she struck the ball well before it landed on the green and rolled into the cup. The ace moved her to 1-under for the round before finishing with a 5-over 77. Her two-day total was a team-best 13-over 229 (78-74-77), good enough for 18th place among the 75-player field. As a team, the Wildcats maintained their 13th-place standing, finishing ahead of Baylor and Kansas State. Michigan State, the host school, won the Central District title with a 10-stroke win over runner-up Texas A&M. Junior Jennifer Hong (Windermere, Fla./The First Academy) and senior Katie Trachok (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) carded respective rounds of 79 and 77 on Tuesday to finish 34th and 50th overall. Hong finished at 18-over (79-76-79=234) and Trachok was 23-over (78-84-77=239). Freshman Kelsey Lindenschmidt (West Chester, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) and junior Justina Yu (Las Vegas, Nev./Bishop Gorman) were 50th and 64th, respectively, with a 23-over 239 and a 29-over 245. Lederhausen joined former NU golfers Meghan McCormick and Hana Kim as the only players in Wildcat history with aces.
