Nov. 17, 2004

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern senior Candice Cooper (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier) and sophomore Meghan Small (Macungie, Pa./Moravian Academy) have been named to the 2004 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-West Region team.

Cooper, a first-team selection, finished the year with 21 goals and 46 points, both numbers good for third-place all-time in Northwestern single-season history. She was a second-team All-Big Ten selection and earned Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honors in September after scoring eight goals in three matches, including back-to-back hat tricks.

This is Cooper's second-consecutive first-team NFHCA All-Region honor.

Small, a second-team selection, was NU's second-leading scorer with four goals and four assists. She was the Wildcats' offensive catalyst in the midfield, earning second-team All-Big Ten honors for her efforts. Small was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week after scoring both goals in the Wildcats' season-opening, 2-1 overtime win over James Madison.

The NFHCA award is Small's first.
