April 25, 2005

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern head coach Kelly McCollum has announced the selection of juniors Holly Palin (Mequon, Wis./University School of Milwaukee) and Christine Nannicelli (Walpole, Mass./Walpole) as captains for the 2005 season.

"I am excited about them leading the group into next season," McCollum said. "They have already taken on a more active role in directing the group. Their leadership styles balance well and will be a good fit for this team."

Palin is three-time letterwinner who has started 55 of the 57 matches Northwestern has played during her career. A midfielder, she has 20 career points on six goals and eight assists.

Nannicelli, a defender, has started every match in her time at Northwestern. Last season she was second on the team with five assists and third with 11 points.

The Wildcats concluded their spring schedule on April 24 with a full-squad tournament at Louisville.
