EVANSTON, Ill -- Northwestern closed its spring schedule against outside schools last weekend, compiling a 4-3-1 record in Louisville, Ky. The Wildcats' annual Alumni Game -- NU's final spring competition -- will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lakeside Field.

On Sat., April 17, NU recorded a 2-2-1 record in a 7-on-7 tournament in Louisville, earning wins against Ball State and Ohio University. The 'Cats then went 2-1 during a full 11-on-11 tourney Sunday, defeating Southwest Missouri and the host Cardinals.

"Our staff is very happy with the improvement and growth our squad has shown in spring competition," Wildcat head coach Kelly McCollum said. "The team is working hard and scoring goals to put us in a position to win games." Captains Candice Cooper and Morgan Kuhn both scored multiple goals to pace Northwestern's offense.

In addition to scoring, the NU defense posted three shutouts on the weekend. Sophomores Christine Nannicelli and Rachel Cody anchored the defensive effort, stepping up to fill leadership holes in the Wildcat backline.

Northwestern began its spring competition with a home tournament on April 10, posting a 2-2 record. The event featured an area Chicago Mix squad as well as Kent and Iowa. NU will also conclude its spring slate at home with the Alumni Game Saturday.

"We are looking forward to finishing strong in our final weekend of play." McCollum said.
