Northwestern Recognized As NFHCA Division I National Academic Award Recipient

NFHCA National Academic Squad Release
EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern has been named a recipient of the 2007 NFHCA Division I National Academic Team Award, it was announced today. The award is given to programs achieving a minimum team GPA of 3.0 during the first semester of the 2007-08 academic year. Additionally, eight Wildcats were named to the National Academic Squad, the individual portion of the NFHCA award presented to student-athletes. Those individuals are recognized as achieving a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30. Northwestern was one of 48 Division I programs to garner the team honor, and just one of only four Big Ten schools to be recognized. In December, eight Wildcats were also recognized with Academic All-Big Ten honors. Those being selected to the academic squad include Zoe Almquist (Ann Arbor, Mich./Ann Arbor Pioneer), Katie Charles (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington), Courtney Coburn (Upper Arlington, Ohio/Upper Arlington), Megan Jamieson (Toledo, Ohio/Ottawa Hills), Katie Lynch (Briarcliff, N.Y./Briarcliff), Sarah Marcincin (Bethlehem, Pa./Blair Academy), Marnie Robbins (Milwaukee, Wis./University School Milwaukee) and Olivia Standa (Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest).
It is the fourth-consecutive year Charles has earned the award, while Coburn, a sophomore, takes the honor for her second time. The other six 'Cats receiving the award are first-year freshmen.
