Box Score

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern's two-game West Coast trip started out with a 3-1 victory over Stanford on Saturday, and was led by Courtney Plaster-Strange (Hodgenville, Ky./Kentucky County Day) and her two second-half goals in Palo Alto, Calif.

With the score tied, 1-1, in the second half, Plaster-Strange collected a loose ball in front of the net and buried it in the top corner of the cage to put the 'Cats ahead. Less than two minutes later, the sophomore struck again in the top corner of the cage to give NU a 3-1 lead it would not relinquish.

The two goals added to her season total of five, which ties her with Alex Quinn (Watertown, Mass./Watertown) for second best on the team. Last weekend, Plaster-Strange scored three goals in the two games against Iowa and Providence, which were her first three of the season.

Junior Alison Bullock's (Boyds, Md./Stone Ridge) first-half goal came in the 19th minute off a rebound she put past the Stanford keeper. Bullock's goal was her team-leading sixth of the season.

Emily Kyle (San Francisco, Calif./San Francisco University H.S.) returned to her starting spot in net and once again played brilliantly, saving nine of the 10 shots she faced on the day.

Sunday's game against California marks the 'Cats first back-to-back games of the year. Following the contest, NU returns home for its final two games of the year at Lakeside Field next weekend.
