MADISON, N.J. - After day two at the 2007 Fencing Championships hosted by Drew University in Madison, N.J., the women's saber, foil and epée teams are complete and Penn State sits atop the women's team standings. Northwestern finished its season with a seventh place showing at the annual event. Freshman Christa French was NU's top finisher, placing sixth in women's epee.

Northwestern finished the Championships with 51 total points, 54 behind women's champion Penn State. The National Championship is determined by the total points scored by both the men's and women's teams.

NU placed seventh in 2006 with 56 total points.

The Wildcats' top finisher, French, placed sixth in epee, while her sister Kayley French finished 14th.

In foil, the Wildcats two returning All-Americans, senior Jessica Florendo and Sam Nemecek placed 16th and seventh, respectively.

Senior Mai Vu was NU's lone competitor in sabre. She placed 22nd.
