EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern's men's and women's swimming and diving squads have been named 2003-04 scholar-athlete teams by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America. To be recognized for the honor, teams must post a cumulative grade-point average of 2.8 or higher.

The Wildcat women have achieved a 3.150 team GPA while the men put together a 2.890 average to earn the award.

Fifty-three men's teams and 88 women's programs earned the honors at the Division I level this season.

Both NU teams enjoyed successful 2003-04 seasons, with the women sending a pair of student-athletes to the NCAA Championships while the men qualified eight swimmers, finishing 11th overall as a team.
