EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern senior Mike Alexandrov (Champaign, Ill./Centennial) has been named Collegeswimming.com and Swimming World Magazine National Swimmer of the Week for the second time this season following his performance at the Big Ten Championships.

Alexandrov was named Big Ten Swimmer of the Championships after winning conference titles in all three of his individual events and with three different relays. In winning those events, he set five pool, school and Big Ten conference records, with the only victory not coming in that fashion being in the 200 Individual Medley.

His record-setting performances came in the 100 breaststroke (an NCAA automatic qualification 'A' cut of 52.24), 200 breaststroke ('A' cut of 1:52.93), the 200 freestyle relay ('A' cut of 1:17.21), the 400 medley relay ('A' cut of 3:06.99) and the 200 medley relay ('A' cut of 1:25.14). His winning 200 Individual Medley time was a pool-record 'A' cut (1:45.11).

Alexandrov also won the honors on January 30 of this year. Teammate Matt Grevers (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) was the NCSW on two occasions this sseason.
