STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Northwestern senior J.D. Martin (North Brunswick, N.J./North Brunswick) earned second-team All-Big Ten honors Thursday at the Big Ten Tournament. The announcement came at the banquet dinner in State College, Pa.

Martin racked up seven shutouts this season, the best individual single-season total in school history, as he led the Wildcats to seven more wins than the previous year. He finished 2002 with an 8-12 record, a 1.27 goals-against average, a .786 save percentage and 88 saves.

Martin consistently ranked in the top three in several conference goalkeeping statistics. He finished the regular season second in shutouts (7) and second in saves (82).

After his only year at NU, Martin, a transfer from Rutgers, is now fifth on the career shutout list. He started all 20 games and played all but 103:25.
