EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern men’s soccer player Matt Keeler (Portage, Mich./Portage Northern) was chosen as this week’s Big Ten Player of the Week.

Keeler, the conference leader in saves with 84, combined with junior goalkeeper Chris Berlin (West Lafayette, Ind./West Lafayette) in the 3-0 win over Valparaiso and then recorded five saves against Michigan State to preserve a 1-0 win. The victory gave the Wildcats their best Conference finish in school history at 2-3 and helped them earn the fourth seed in this week’s Big Ten Tourney to be held in East Lansing, Mich.

The Cats first round opponent is Wisconsin, who they play Friday at 2:30 p.m. on Michigan State’s Old College Field.
