GREEN BAY, Wis. - Brian Heckenbach tallied his first career shutout as Northwestern downed UW-Green Bay, 2-0. The Wildcats improve to 2-2-3 on the season.

Freshman Gerardo Alvarez tallied both NU goals and classmate Daniel Chille picked up an assist to lead the 'Cats.

Alvarez' first goal came in the 30th minute of play, when he took a pass from Chille, dribbled through the right side and ripped a shot past Phoenix goalkeeper Dave Palmer to give the 'Cats a 1-0 lead.

Alvarez added an insurance goal at 87:30 when he blasted a shot from 25 feet out for the unassisted goal.

The Wildcat defense tightened up once they took the lead, allowing UW-Green Bay only three shots in the second half.

Heckenbach made three saves in the match for the Wildcats, while Palmer had two stops for UW-Green Bay.

NU out-shot the Phoenix 11-8 in the match and played a far more disciplined game as well. UW-Green Bay was whistled for 23 fouls to just six for the 'Cats.
