July 11, 2005

PORTSMOUTH, Va. -- Northwestern University's Kyle Moore (Dublin, Ohio) had quite a week. Just a few days prior to the start of the 49th Annual Eastern Amateur Golf Tournament, Moore was not even entered.

Six days later, the sophomore-to-be was crowned champion of the Eastern Amateur with a tourney-record-setting score.

The tournament was covered by The Virginian-Pilot's Jim Ducibella. You can read about Sunday's final round and other stories throughout the week on the newspaper's web site.

Northwestern sophomore Dan Doyle (Rochester, Mich./Stoney Creek) also competed in the event and finished 12th.
