Northwestern Enters Final Round of Boilermaker Invitational in 11th Place

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Northwestern is in 11th place at the Boilermaker Invitational after firing identical totals of 8-over 296 in the first and second rounds during Saturday action at the par 72, 7,079-yard Kampen Course. The Wildcats are 12 strokes behind both Iowa and Iowa State, which are tied for ninth place with totals of 4-over 580. Xavier is five strokes behind Northwestern with a 21-over 597 after the first two rounds. Senior Dan Doyle (Rochester, Mich./Stoney Creek) is in 11th place with a 2-under 142 (71-71), followed by sophomore David Lipsky (La Canada, Calif./La Canada) in 30th at 2-over 146 (71-75). Freshman Josh Dupont (Poway, Calif./Cathedral Catholic) is in 55th place after following a first-round 73 with a second-round 77 to end day one at 6-over 155. Senior Kyle Moore (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Scioto) recovered from a disastrous first-round 81 to shoot a 2-over 74 in the second round for a total of 11-over 155. Sophomore Jonathan Bowers (Columbus, Ohio/Bishop Watterson) rounds out NU's squad with a 14-over 158 (82-76). Northwestern finished the first round in a tie for 11th place with Loyola (Chicago) after shooting an 8-over 296. Doyle and Lipsky both fired totals of 1-under 71. Doyle came in with a 2-under 34 on the back side, a score Dupont matched on the front side en route to a first round 1-over 73.
The Boilermaker Invitational concludes with the final round Sunday. Live stats are not available; results will be posted on NUsports.com following the completion of the tournament.
