COLUMBUS, Ohio - Northwestern recorded the second lowest round of the day with a 14-over 298 to finish fifth at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate at Ohio State's Scarlet Course. Senior Kyle Moore (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Scioto) shot a 3-over 74 to finish with a 12-over 225 (78-73-74) in a tie for 10th place.
Northwestern moved up one spot from Saturday to finish in fifth with a 60-over 912 (317-297-298), three shots behind host Ohio State and four shots ahead of 36th-ranked Penn State. The Wildcats also finished ahead of 18th-ranked Louisville and 40th-ranked Michigan.
The 'Cats were one of two teams in the 14-team field to have two sub-300 rounds. The other was tournament champion Colorado who won with a 48-over 900 (299-307-294), clinching with the weekend's lowest round.
Sophomore Jonathan Bowers (Columbus, Ohio/Bishop Watterson) and freshman Josh Dupont (Poway, Calif./Cathedral Catholic) both shot 4-over 75's in the final round to finish at 18-over 231. The two Wildcats both started the day in a tie for 33rd and finished in 27th.
Senior Dan Doyle (Rochester, Mich./Stoney Creek) continued his solid play, shooting his second consecutive 74 on Sunday. After starting the day in a tie for 45th, he moved up 11 spots to finish tied for 34th at 20-over 233 (85-74-74).
Sophomore David Lipsky (La Canada, Calif./La Canada) turned in a 26-over 239 (77-84-78) in a tie for 53rd-place.
The Wildcats will return to action next weekend at the Boilermaker Invitational in West Lafayette, Indiana. Last year, the 'Cats finished in a tie for second place with host Purdue University.
