HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. -- Just as the world's best golfers were slowed by Mother Nature a few hours south in Augusta, Ga., Northwestern and 14 other college teams were enduring on-and-off thunderstorms at the Courtyard by Marriott Intercollegiate on Friday. The tournament is being hosted by North Carolina State and being held at Devils Ridge Golf Club.

As a result of the weather problems, the second round was suspended so only results through the first 18 holes are official. The third round, scheduled for Saturday, has been canceled, and the second round will resume at 9 a.m. CT.

Through 18 holes, the Wildcats were in 14th place, three strokes ahead of East Tennessee State. Dillon Dougherty (Woodland, Calif./Woodland) led the Wildcats in the first round, firing an even-par 72. Freshman Kyle Moore (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Scioto) turned in a 1-over 73.

Wake Forest, one of the nation's perennial powers, was trailing Georgia Southern by six strokes after 18 holes.

Live scoring and results are available for the tournament by linking to Courtyard by Marriott Intercollegiate. Other tournament information can be found at Wolf Pack Sports News.
