EVANSTON, Ill. -- After turning in the best passing day in Northwestern football history, junior quarterback C.J. Bachér (Sacramento, Calif./Jesuit) is being bestowed with a pair of national honors.

Bachér, who threw for a school-record 520 yards and five touchdowns on 38-of-48 passing (79.2 percent) in Saturday's 48-41 overtime win at Michigan State, was named the Walter Camp National Offensive Player of the Week today. It was the fifth-best passing performance in Big Ten history.

This is the fourth consecutive year that the Walter Camp Football Foundation is honoring one offensive and one defensive player as its national "Bowl Subdivision Player of the Week." Selections are made each week during the regular season by a panel of national media members and publicized by the Walter Camp Football Foundation.

The first five 2007 offensive honorees include: Marlon Lucky (Nebraska), Sam Bradford (Oklahoma), Tim Tebow (Florida), Matt Forté (Tulane) and DeSean Jackson (California).

With his 520-yard day, Bachér surpassed Brett Basanez's 513-yard outing, which was set against TCU in 2004. Bachér's five TD passes, two of which went for 78 and 70 yards, equaled NU's single-game mark, held by Mitch Anderson (1973 vs. Minnesota).

Bachér also is one of four players nationwide who has been nominated for the AT&T All-America Player of the Week award. Fans can determine the winner by text messaging VOTE to 87654 on their wireless phone.

Bachér joins Michigan's Mike Hart, Texas Tech quarterback Graham Harrell and Missouri quarterback Chase Daniel for this week's honor. Fans can visit www.espnallamerica.com and make their vote. Voting ends at 11:59 p.m. EST with the winner announced Oct. 11 during Thursday's ESPN College Football Primetime game (Florida State vs. Wake Forest).
