Sept. 12, 2007

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern has announced a pair of future home-and-home football nonconference series with Boston College and Rice University.

The Wildcats will play at Boston College on Sept. 3, 2011 and then play host to the Eagles on Sept. 15, 2012. Northwestern and BC have played three times previously, with the last meeting coming in 1993.

Northwestern and Rice will play a two-game series in 2010 and 2011. The Wildcats first play in Houston on Sept. 18, 2010 and then will host the Owls on Nov. 19, 2011. NU and Rice have played five times previously with the last game occurring in 1998.

"Boston College and Rice are schools that share similar academic and athletic philosophies with Northwestern, so playing these two outstanding institutions makes sense for us," said Mark Murphy, NU's director of athletics. "I know our fans will be excited about these games."

Northwestern previously announced a four-game series with Syracuse, which begins next year at Ryan Field.

Northwestern also announced that next year's game vs. Ohio University on Sept. 20 will now be played at Ryan Field, and not in Athens, Ohio, as previously scheduled.
