EVANSTON, Ill. -- Six Wildcats have garnered Phil Steele's All-Big Ten preseason honors as part of the publication's 2008 College Football Preview, two as members of the second team and a quartet on the honorable mention list.

Senior running back Tyrell Sutton (Akron, Ohio/Archbishop Hoban) and senior defensive tackle John Gill (Los Altos Hills, Calif./Bellarmine College Prep) were tabbed second-team selections, while senior wide receiver Eric Peterman (Sherman, Ill./Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin), junior defensive end Corey Wootton (Rutherford, N.J./Don Bosco Prep), junior cornerback Sherrick McManis (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods) and sophomore punter Stefan Demos (Scottsdale, Ariz./Horizon) all picked up honorable mention nods.

Both Sutton and Gill were honorable mention All-Big Ten picks last season, with Sutton winning the honor from the coaches despite missing five-plus games and Gill earning a consensus selection.

Northwestern opens the 2008 season August 30 against Syracuse at Ryan Field.
