BRADENTON, Fla. - Dartmouth snapped Northwestern's four-game win streak with a 10-1 win Thursday afternoon in Bradenton, Fla. NU, which scattered 11 hits in the nine-inning game, fell to 8-8-1 on the season. Junior J.A. Happ, who pitched seven complete innings, suffered his first loss of the season (2-1).

Junior Matt Brimmer and sophomore Anthony Wycklendt each had three hits in the game, as Wycklendt recorded his third triple of the season. Junior Jon Mikrut recorded NU's lone RBI in the fifth inning, smacking a single to center as a Brimmer leadoff single came around to score. Jason Krynski hit his team-leading 10th double of the season in the loss.

Dartmouth broke NU's 21-inning scoreless streak, plating two unearned runs in the third inning off Happ. NU had recorded back-to-back shutouts before today's game.

The Big Green wasn't done, scoring single runs in the fourth, seventh, and eighth innings before exploding for five in the top of the ninth. NU used four pitchers in the last two innings, with none recording more than two outs.

On the mound, Happ had his longest outing of the season, striking out seven in the process. He gave up four runs (two earned), throwing 108 pitches.

NU and Dartmouth are back at it tomorrow, playing game two of the three-game series at Academy Park. Game time is set for 1 p.m. (EST).
