SAAC

Mission: The mission of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is to serve as a vehicle to promote communication between the athletic administration and student-athletes at Northwestern by providing a student-athlete voice within the department, discussing issues and concerns, and providing feedback as necessary. SAAC also serves in a leadership role recruiting fellow student-athletes to serve the campus, Evanston, and the surrounding area through a variety of community service programs and events.

Organization and Governance: The Northwestern University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is a representative group made up of at least two student-athletes from the 19 sports- each of whom provides the direction for SAAC by addressing the needs of fellow student-athletes. The President, Vice President and Secretary are each elected by their peers in SAAC to serve one-year terms; and all members are welcome to participate in any of the five committees established by SAAC.

Members of the Marketing Committee promote SAAC-sponsored events and each sport's "Big Game." The "Big Game" is one game chosen by each team in-season at which they want the best fan support from their peers. All "Big Games" at Northwestern are sponsored by Chipotle. The Outreach Program organizes all SAAC-sponsored community service events throughout the year beginning with the Holiday Food Drive benefiting Family Focus and culminating in Field Day. The Social Committee works with the goal of providing all student-athletes with the opportunity to socialize at organized event(s). Each year, the Social Committee plans the student-athlete social during the spring quarter. The Lifeskills Committee is responsible for assisting the development of the Lifeskills Challenge. The Lifeskills Challenge is a competition between teams where teams will receive points for academic excellence, athletic excellence, attending various development sessions, community service, attending Big Games and other events TBA. The Compliance Committee takes place of the Compliance Council and will be responsible for discussing compliance-related issues.
