Junior Hilary Bowen was named the WomensLacrosse.com Player of the Week after her eight-point performance in Northwestern's 15-7 victory over Notre Dame Sunday. Bowen tied a season-high with five goals and three assists in helping the Wildcats advance to the NCAA quarterfinals.
Northwestern has been tabbed the No. 11 overall seed in the 2008 NCAA Tournament, and will welcome Western Illinois, Drake and DePaul to Sharon J. Drysdale Field for its first round Regional May 16-18. The Wildcats are hosting their Regional for the third-consecutive season.
Northwestern head men's basketball coach Bill Carmody has announced the signing of Kyle Rowley (Arima, Trinidad/Lake Forest (Ill.) Academy) to a National Letter of Intent to join the Wildcats for the 2008-09 season. He joins previous signees Davide Curletti, Nick Fruendt, Luka Mirkovic and John Shurna in the Wildcats' five-member incoming freshman class.
Top-ranked Northwestern made an early statement in the NCAA Championships this weekend, sweeping 4-0 victories over both Illinois-Chicago and Indiana. The Wildcats will face No. 16-seeded Fresno State in Tulsa, Okla., for the third round (16 remaining teams), which begins May 15.
