Nickname: "Tug" As a student at Illinois, Wilson competed at the 1920 Olympic Games in discus and javelin. After serving Northwestern as director of athletics for 20 years, he was named Big Ten Commissioner from 1945-61, became secretary-treasurer of the NCAA and served as chairman of the U.S. Olympic Committee in 1953. |
