Nickname: "Paddy"
Driscoll, an Evanston native, earned a starting role at Northwestern as quarterback for the 1915 campaign and captained the 1916 team that finished with a 6-1 record and a second-place conference finish. He scored a touchdown and had a 43-yard dropkick to propel the Wildcats to a 10-0 win over University of Chicago in 1916, their first win over the Maroons in 15 years. In 1917, what would have been his senior season, Driscoll joined the Navy and later played for the Great Lakes Naval team that won the 1919 Rose Bowl.
Driscoll played for three teams in the National Football League, including the Chicago Bears from 1926-30, and still holds the NFL dropkicking record. He was assistant coach for the Bears from 1941-55 and 1958-62 and was head coach from 1956-57. Driscoll was selected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1965 and the National Football Foundation Hall of Fame in 1974.
