As a sophomore, Bauer was one of five NU students to win a place on the 1924 U.S. Olympic team, winning the gold medal in the 100-meter backstroke. During following years, she broke every women's backstroke record from 50 to 400 yards. Bauer was posthumously inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame in 1967. |
