Paint the Town Purple 2006 Photo Gallery EVANSTON, Ill. -- Sign-up now to paint a downtown Evanston window for Homecoming. Students can create a picture or design, which can promote a student group as well as your Northwestern pride, and paint it on the window of an Evanston business. Submit your design to the Wildcat Athletic Marketing Department by Wednesday, October 3, and you'll be assigned a storefront to paint. (Designs can be e-mailed to e-cunningham2@northwestern.edu, faxed to 847.491.8818 or put in campus mail to 1501 Central St., Evanston, IL 60208.) Groups will have to supply their own tempra paint, ivory bar soap, masking tape, brushes, buckets, and any other necessary supplies. As far as paint, you should purchase tempra, water-based paint (which is available at the art store near the movie theater or the art store on Davis St.). Some groups choose to first take bars of ivory soap and rub them dry on the windows, giving the window a frosted look, and then paint on top of the soap. With or without the soap, when you go to remove your design, you'll only need sponges and water and the paint should come off relatively easily!
